SAITSA speed dating is a hit

Speed-dating has taken SAIT by storm this year.

SAITSA’s wildly popular speed dating event drew a full house at the Odyssey Coffee House Nov. 27, and tickets for the next edition March 29 are already sold out.

There are 20 spots for each gender, with each session lasting for four minutes.

After a session each participant is asked if they would like to continue meeting with the other person.

If both parties answer yes, SAITSA gives the prospective lovebirds each other’s contact information, and the rest of the relationship is up to them.

“Speed dating gives you the opportunity to meet a lot of people in a short period of time,” said Calgary Speed Dating owner Catherine Saykaly-Stevens.

“In a city like Calgary it can be difficult to meet new people,”

If you are one of the lucky few to have a ticket to the March 29 event and this is your first time speed dating then here’s some tips for you.

When it comes to first time speed daters, Saykaly-Stevens said the best advice is to simply smile and remember that everyone is nervous.

“Speed dating doesn’t have to be hard,” said Cara Anderson, owner of Six-Minute Dates.

Anderson said to talk about things that interest you, and try not to fall into the habit of talking about past relationships.

“Just show up, give it a try,” said Anderson.
