Sliding and grinding across SAIT campus

Adelle Ellis, a student in the second year of SAIT’s journalism program, made the superb picture below during an overcast Sunday afternoon on the school’s main campus. Ellis chose a relatively slow shutter speed of 1/40 of a second, then pivoted her camera in step with inline skater Daniel Pilon, to capture a frame that is alive with motion.

Fast Forward: Inline skater Daniel Pilon is a blur of motion as he grinds and slides his way around SAIT's main campus on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013. Pilon is an instructor with Alien In-Line, a Calgary firm that teaches inline skating at local schools. (Photo by Adelle Ellis/The Press)
