Calgary on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019.\u00d2In the South Sudanese community the adults literacy rate is 27 per cent , said Gar Gar. He is trying to help change that by encouraging the youth to pursue higher education. Gar Gar  graduated from SAIT in 2016 with a Bachelor of  Business Administration, majoring in accounting. He was also president of SAIT's Student Association and Chair, and finance committee in 2017. As well as SAIT member's Board of Governors and Governance Committee in 2017.  With his hard work he was able to create SS: YES ( South Sudanese Youth Empowerment Scholarship Award). It is  an entry-level award that is valued at $1,000 . The requirements are financial need, academic achievement, proof of South Sudanese citizenship or immigration from South Sudan must be provided  before the deadline on February 28, 2020.
