{"id":38075,"date":"2017-10-26T10:59:51","date_gmt":"2017-10-26T16:59:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/saitjournalism.ca\/?p=38075"},"modified":"2017-10-26T10:59:51","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T16:59:51","slug":"colourful-east-village-junction-has-big-opening-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saitjournalism.ca\/thepress\/2017\/10\/26\/colourful-east-village-junction-has-big-opening-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Colourful East Village Junction has big opening year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"wpsdc-drop-cap\">E<\/span>ast Village has grown as a community within the last year, with many new revitalized establishments such as the East Village Junction (EVJ)\u00a0 market.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"wpsdc-drop-cap\">T<\/span>he market, which is housed in a collection of brightly-coloured, old shipping containers, opened its doors on June 1<sup>st<\/sup>, with vendors such as Lululemon, Rath Bicycle Sales and Rentals, and Maker Faire participating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEast Village Junction is like Calgary\u2019s version of Granville Island,\u201d a representative for EVJ said.<\/p>\n<p>The market also has weekly events such as yoga, \u2018Junction Jams\u2019, various running crews and a pop-up branch of the Calgary Public Library.<\/p>\n<p>One of the vendors occupying a shipping container, The Maker Faire, finds the weekly Showcase events at the Junction a useful way to connect with the public.<\/p>\n<p>This year will be the sixth annual Maker Faire in Calgary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Maker Faire is basically a show and tell event.
