C<\/span>algary brides flocked to the BMO Centre on Sept. 17 for champagne, cake and wedding gowns.<\/p>\n

C<\/span>algary Bridal Expo<\/a> is Alberta\u2019s largest fall bridal show. It featured many events and booths for people to enjoy, such as a gown\u00a0sales, a fashion show, artisan market, cakes and decor, fashion, and even tuxedos.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favourite part would have to be the free mimosas and up-beat fashion\u00a0show,\u201d said Samantha Lynn Jopp.<\/p>\n

The fashion show began at noon, and there was a second show starting at 3 p.m\u00a0for\u00a0those who missed the first one.\u00a0Derek MacDonald from Boom goes the Drum event planning was the host of the\u00a0bridal fashion show.<\/p>\n

The expo was a great place to find small local business looking for a foothold\u00a0in the wedding scene, with many artists showing off their talent and products. Some of the dresses shown on the runway came from smaller local wedding\u00a0dress retailers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt provides a lot of exposure,\u201d said Megan Silver of Beyond Cake, while\u00a0standing by a display of the many cakes they had brought for the expo.<\/p>\n

There were many chances for the brides-to-be to win prizes at the multiple booths set up for the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had fun looking at all the different vendors, and talking wedding ideas with\u00a0my maid of honour,\u201d said Jopp.<\/p>\n

Michelle Downey of Li\u2019l Mam Flowers said she hoped the event would gain her more business.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope so, it is my first year here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Confetti<\/a> by Calgary Bride sponsored the entire event, and the expo was\u00a0produced by Kathie James and Lenora Kingcott.<\/p>\n

One of the biggest draws for brides was the wedding dress sale, with\u00a0discounts ranging from 40-70 per cent off.
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

There were hundreds of discontinued designer gowns for brides to try on\u00a0and choose from.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really didn\u2019t base any decisions off of this show, but it was certainly an\u00a0interesting experience,\u201d said Jopp.<\/p>\n

The sale area had dozens of change rooms, mirrors and knowledgeable bridal\u00a0consultants to help the future brides find the right dress.<\/p>\n

The Bridal Expo also included an artisan market where local artists and\u00a0creators\u00a0showed their products and gain clients.\u00a0The market was the place to find original and creative pieces for a\u00a0bride’s wedding day.<\/p>\n
