T<\/span>he SAIT women\u2019s basketball team has had a strong start to the 2017-2018 season, going undefeated through its first seven games of the season.<\/p>\n

T<\/span>he Trojans did it by getting contributions from many different players on the team. The have also shown consistent effort throughout the first half of the season.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2018We’re playing well so far, and we are showing good effort as well, said Melissa Woolley, a fourth-year guard.<\/p>\n

Despite the strong start, the team believes it can still improve.<\/p>\n

They struggle closing out games in the fourth quarter as well letting the other teams get back into games.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019 We have to learn how to play a complete game and to go through the highs and lows of a game, \u2018\u2019said Woolley.<\/p>\n

The squad has played a strong offensive and defensive game, and that has helped it go undefeated.<\/p>\n

“Personally I love my teammates. It has been a change from high school, \u2018\u2019said Jaiden Hansen, a first-year guard.<\/p>\n

With having first year guards like Hansen contributing has helped the team to rely less on its veteran players.<\/p>\n

“I just want to be more confident with the ball, and to stay undefeated as a team,” said Hansen.<\/p>\n

The team hopes to continue its success from the first half in the second half of the season, and to stay undefeated.<\/p>\n

\u2018”We just want to keep rolling,\u2019\u2019 said Woolley.<\/p>\n

The team wants to continue its strong play and hopefully push for a national title.<\/p>\n

The Trojans start the second half of the season on Jan. 12 on road against the St. Mary\u2019s University Lighting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
