H<\/span>and-made products are becoming highly desirable, and one of the best places to find these types of items are at local markets around Calgary.<\/p>\n

One such place is the Little Modern Market<\/a> at the official Rally Pointe Volleyball Club on Saturdays.<\/p>\n

Both Lindsay Bean and Melissa Gaylard started the market, after realizing something was missing from the current local markets.<\/p>\n

They felt that trying to get downtown isn\u2019t always an option for people living in the suburbs.<\/p>\n

They wanted to bring the same fun and welcoming market scene to suburban areas.<\/p>\n

After eight markets they hope to be creating a space where vendors and shoppers can meet, mingle, learn, and have fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ladies that put on LMM do a great job with the organization, set up and marketing for this event,\u201d said Heather Ryan of Two-Penny<\/a> hand-made jewelry.<\/p>\n

This was Ryan\u2019s first time being a vendor at the market, which was held at 11511 35th St. S.E.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll this helps boost the vendor\u2019s image and social media,\u201d\u00a0said Ryan.<\/p>\n

She believes that being a part of this market helps her reach people who haven’t been customers in the past.<\/p>\n

Many of the items sold at this event can be found and bought on the Etsy website.<\/p>\n

The market not only hosts vendors, but also brings in food trucks and provides live music playing during the event. The Amante Duo, Noel and Hilary Aubin Amante, were the performers at the market on Feb. 17.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the ladies that put it on, as they used to be vendors I would see normally at other shows,\u201d said Chantal Miyagishima from Knitatude.<\/p>\n

This was Miyagishima’s second time attending the market and she thinks that the market is great because it specifically targets people in the suburbs that may not get the chance to see local artists in the inner city.<\/p>\n
