(Photo by Shilo Robson\/The Press)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>[dropcap]S[\/dropcap]AIT\u00a0Trojans women\u2019s volleyball is charging\u00a0ahead\u00a0with a 5-2 overall for the\u00a0season,\u00a0putting\u00a0the\u00a0team\u00a0in the top four of the standings for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acac.ab.ca\/tournament\/wvball\/2017-18\/index\">Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference<\/a>\u00a0(ACAC) Women&#8217;s Volleyball.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0team\u00a0is\u00a0already\u00a0at its projected spot for the\u00a0season\u00a0according\u00a0to coach Art\u00a0O\u2019Dwyer, who has been\u00a0expecting\u00a0the\u00a0team\u00a0to be competitive with everyone they have faced\u00a0so\u00a0far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re about\u00a0where\u00a0I\u00a0thought\u00a0we\u2019d\u00a0be,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0O\u2019Dwyer in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u00a0think\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0going\u00a0to pretty close,\u00a0it\u2019s been one of those ones\u00a0where\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0been\u00a0in all of our\u00a0matches.\u00a0So yeah, we\u2019re where I thought we would be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His\u00a0thoughts\u00a0are\u00a0also\u00a0shared by the team setter\u00a0Elly\u00a0Prince, who\u00a0believes\u00a0the team is going\u00a0to\u00a0keep\u00a0getting better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u00a0think\u00a0we are\u00a0going\u00a0to get a lot better,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Prince.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are definitely going\u00a0to\u00a0compete\u00a0in this\u00a0league.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0team\u00a0has been\u00a0hit\u00a0with some challenges this season with sick and injured\u00a0players,\u00a0causing\u00a0the\u00a0number\u00a0of\u00a0players\u00a0at\u00a0practices\u00a0to\u00a0be\u00a0an\u00a0issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe haven\u2019t been\u00a0able\u00a0to do as much in\u00a0practice\u00a0as I\u2019d\u00a0like,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0O\u2019Dwyer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that\u2019s\u00a0the\u00a0only\u00a0challenge we\u2019ve had\u00a0so\u00a0far.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_46554\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-46554\" style=\"width: 216px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-46554 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/saitjournalism.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/20181026-The-press-V-SRO-0152-216x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saitjournalism.ca\/thepress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/20181026-The-press-V-SRO-0152-216x300.jpg 216w, https:\/\/saitjournalism.ca\/thepress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/20181026-The-press-V-SRO-0152-768x1065.jpg 768w, https:\/\/saitjournalism.ca\/thepress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/20181026-The-press-V-SRO-0152-738x1024.jpg 738w, https:\/\/saitjournalism.ca\/thepress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/20181026-The-press-V-SRO-0152.jpg 1846w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-46554\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Taylor Ellis, middle right, spiking ball back during volleyball game at SAIT in Calgary on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018. (Photo by Shilo Robson\/The Press)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Despite the\u00a0low\u00a0attendance at\u00a0practice,\u00a0O\u2019Dwyer\u00a0has plans to\u00a0keep\u00a0the\u00a0development\u00a0of the\u00a0team\u00a0up by\u00a0working\u00a0on the technical aspect of the\u00a0game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlayers\u00a0tend to think about tactical all the time and we need to think more about technical.\u00a0I\u00a0think\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0really\u00a0important.\u201d said\u00a0O\u2019Dwyer.<\/p>\n<p>During its game on Oct. 26th, the team\u00a0won\u00a03-1 against Red Deer College, in a four-set match.<\/p>\n<p>The Trojans\u00a0kept up\u00a0a solid 25 points each for three\u00a0sets, losing just once in the third\u00a0set\u00a0that reached\u00a0up\u00a0into the 30\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the\u00a0loss.\u00a0Coach\u00a0O\u2019Dwyer\u00a0was happy for the\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to\u00a0be\u00a0in that\u00a0situation,\u00a0giving\u00a0the players a\u00a0chance\u00a0to\u00a0see\u00a0how they would\u00a0react.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can go a whole season and not get that. It\u2019s very important because later on in the season if we get there we know we\u2019ve been there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prince\u00a0was equally excited\u00a0about\u00a0the\u00a0match, going on to\u00a0talk\u00a0about\u00a0the adrenaline rush and\u00a0pressure\u00a0they\u00a0faced\u00a0during that set.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0pressure.\u00a0It\u00a0was\u00a0really\u00a0exciting\u00a0for us to\u00a0be\u00a0in a\u00a0match\u00a0like that,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Prince.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor\u00a0it\u00a0to go on as long as\u00a0it\u00a0did, I thought it was fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Trojans would go on\u00a0to\u00a0win\u00a0against\u00a0Red Deer\u00a0College\u00a0again the\u00a0next\u00a0day,\u00a0putting\u00a0them at a four-win streak.
