R<\/span>emembrance Day at Calgary\u2019s Military Museums didn’t end on Sunday, Nov 11 this year.<\/p>\n

I<\/span>nstead, Calgarians kept coming to the museums on Nov. 12, to view the many exhibits honouring the service of those who fought for Canada in past wars.<\/p>\n

The significance of Nov. 11 ceremony is that it marked the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of the end of the First World War.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was swarming in here yesterday, but today has been significantly busy,\u201d said Donna Reeds, a volunteer host at the Military Museums, on Nov.12.<\/p>\n

The ceremony on Sunday attracted well over 100 people, according to some of the museum workers.<\/p>\n

The ceremony took place outdoors, filling up the parking lot.<\/p>\n

\u201cCity officials, politicians, and even teachers from Central Memorial High School came to pay respects too,\u201d said Jen Brookman, the head of volunteering.<\/p>\n

However, even the Monday after, business was still at brisk.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tip jar looks pretty full from here,\u201d said Reeds.<\/p>\n

According to Reeds, Mondays are typically slow days, the only exception to that is when a school trip is booked for a Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cCentral will usually have trips around this time,\u201d said Rebecca Primrose, manager of the museum\u2019s gift shop.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were two last week, and one coming up today I believe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Central Memorial High School is roughly a ten-minute walk from the museum, making it a convenient spot for the school to do historical trips.<\/p>\n

The areas that received a lot of attention over the weekend were the Cooper-Key Hall, which had plenty of apparel of the soldiers from the First World War from different countries.<\/p>\n

British, Canadian and German outfits were all on display.<\/p>\n

Cooper-Key gets lots of attention when Remembrance Day rolls around, said Brad Froggat,\u00a0a curator for the Naval Museum of Alberta.<\/p>\n

Poppies from ceremony attendees were placed on the large statues of soldiers outside the museum\u2019s entrance.<\/p>\n

Calgary\u2019s Military Museums isn\u2019t just dedicated to the First World War, but also has exhibits on the Second World War, which is located right underneath the bridge at the main entrance.<\/p>\n

The museum also has hangars which sport real fighter jets inside, as well as some information on the Cold War.<\/p>\n
