As you step inside Calgary Momo House, the aroma and atmosphere create an ambient mood, evoking the essence of Nepal and stimulating your appetite.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"wpsdc-drop-cap\">T<\/span>he owners of the restaurant wanted an authentic Nepal ambiance, decorating the space with traditional elements. The ceiling alludes to the snowy Himalayas and music complements the background.<\/p>\n<p>Pooja Ale Magar, the owner, started this journey with her husband Prakash Magar during COVID times from their house in the year 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy husband got laid off [from] work and my baby was just six months old when we started selling momos online,\u201d said Ale Magar. (Photo by Paritosh Hirulkar\/The Press)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe couldn\u2019t keep up with the orders,\u201d said Ale Magar<\/p>\n<p>When Magar was laid off, life became harder for them and this made them take a decision to work on their passion and open a restaurant called Calgary Momo House in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>During the first days of opening, Calgarians liked the experience Momo is one of the only authentic Nepali restaurants in the city. (Photo by Paritosh Hirulkar\/The Press)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are trying to make it similar by using the authentic ingredients,\u201d said Magar.<\/p>\n<p>Calgary Momo House is in the safe hands of an experienced chef Magar himself who used to work as a chef in the U.S., London, Nepal and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have over 20 years of experience in culinary [industry],\u201d said Magar.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the motivation behind opening an authentic Nepali restaurant, Magar who is a seasoned chef had just a small and beautiful thing to say, \u201cIt is just for the love of food.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the opening and because of their extraordinary cuisine and taste, word of mouth really worked for them.<\/p>\n<p>Ridham Shah who has been a customer at the Calgary Momo House for the past two years discovered this place with his girlfriend Jahanvi Bhatt who found out about this from her friends. After discovering the restaurant this has been their go-to place when they crave momos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI absolutely love tandoori momo there it is so crispy and tasty,\u201d said Shah.<\/p>\n<p>Customers who have been at the restaurant only had good things to say. Some were in awe of the taste while others were in love with the ambience and the service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe feel like we are back in the Himalayas and there are flags on the ceiling which looks nice,\u201d said Bhatt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Embark on a culinary journey from the streets of Nepal to the mountains of Calgary.
