A tight race in Calgary’s municipal election – in pictures

Calgary’s incumbent mayor Naheed Nenshi fights for his political life against Calgary lawyer Bill Smith in what has been described as a very tight race for the mayor’s seat in this year’s municipal election.

SAIT’s photojournalism students were on hand to cover the event in pictures. As part of their training, students were tasked with sending their pictures from professional digital cameras to their smartphones before forwarding them to The Press file servers. Several of the photos in the gallery below have been sent using this technology.

We hope you enjoy the visual story that unfolds throughout the evening as Calgary elects its next mayor, city council, and school board trustees.
